On September 15, in response to DEX aggregator 0x's claims that many Uniswap v4 Hooks exhibit malicious behavior, Uniswap founder Hayden Adams stated, "This is a technical capability issue; do not route trades to malicious Hooks." He expressed that the Uniswap team is willing to assist projects facing this issue and noted that v4 Hooks have unleashed significant innovation potential. Hayden Adams also recommended developers use the Uniswap API, which provides optimal market prices, avoids malicious Hooks, covers all Uniswap liquidity without additional fees, and supports cross-chain trading and external liquidity aggregation.

On September 15, DEX aggregator 0x announced on platform X that since the beginning of this year, it has facilitated 81.92 million transactions with a trading volume of $42.67 billion, of which approximately 70% involved Uniswap liquidity. Meanwhile, we receive dozens of requests each month regarding the review and integration of v4 Hooks, allowing us to see both well-designed and problematic designs. Recently, however, we have started to observe a concerning increase in malicious Hooks. In the past few weeks, 0x has identified a troubling rise in the number of malicious Uniswap v4 Hooks. These Hooks are designed to display one price during the quote request phase, but execute the trade at a different price during actual settlement. The attack patterns of these malicious Hooks vary, but the end result is the same: they steal funds from users by deceiving aggregators, wallets, and trading applications.
