At dawn, an economic 'D-Day' against Iran is approaching—this is the largest financial offensive ever launched against hostile forces. Bessent also warned that any country providing financial support to this crumbling regime should expect to face the same isolation. He stated that the U.S. goal will be to cut off every economic lifeline supporting the Iranian regime until Tehran is left isolated and helpless. Previously, Bessent indicated that the U.S. would use all enforcement tools to impose secondary sanctions on countries and businesses that continue to engage in relevant business with Iran, focusing on three types of economic activities: purchasing Iranian oil, transferring remittances to Iran, and ship-to-ship transfers of Iranian crude oil at sea.
