On August 10, the X account of well-known artist and Pepe creator Matt Furie, after being silent for nine months, suddenly became active in early August. Within a week, it was connected to three meme coin contract addresses, and then most related tweets were deleted. Eventually, on August 9, the account posted, "The account was hacked, I do not endorse any shitcoin," and claimed that the official website had long shown a notice. On August 1, the Matt Furie account changed its profile picture to a hoodrat image and simultaneously published content related to the meme coin HOODRAT along with a contract address. After the token's market cap quickly surged, the tweet was deleted, and the price plummeted. On August 3, shortly after the deployment of the DORK token, the Matt Furie account posted a contract address, followed the project's account, and released a collaborative artwork featuring Pepe and Dork Lord. The tweet was later deleted. On-chain analysis by @StandartXBT showed that the deployer quickly executed bundled buys, liquidity removal, and sells, extracting significant ETH profits from the initial capital. Around August 7, the Matt Furie account posted that it supported the meme coin project BOYZ, regarded it as the only token it would endorse, and collaborated creatively with the team, adding the official website and contract address. The content was widely reposted by the project team and KOLs. On August 9, the Matt Furie account posted, "The answer has been on my website," attaching a screenshot of the official website (showing the text "my twitter is hacked- i do not endorse any shitcoins" in an inconspicuous sidebar area). By monitoring web archives, on-chain analyst @StandartXBT discovered that the text had not previously appeared on the official website and there was no trace of it in X searches, casting doubt on the credibility of the statement.

On April 23, on-chain analyst Ai Yi (@ai_9684xtpa) reported that the address 0x2Dc…1AA2D has once again accumulated 80 billion PEPE after an 8-month hiatus, valued at $3.08 million. Previously, this address had acquired 66 billion PEPE on August 14 at a price of $0.0000122. After this latest purchase, the average cost has decreased to approximately $0.0000074286, resulting in an unrealized loss of $5.094 million.

On April 9, according to SEC filings, Canary Capital has submitted the S-1 registration statement for the Canary PEPE ETF, intending to launch the issuance after the registration becomes effective. Previously, the firm applied for a number of altcoin ETFs, which has led to skepticism from the public that it is merely for hype.
