On August 13, Pathway, a cutting-edge AI research lab based in Palo Alto, California, announced the completion of its latest funding round, bringing its total seed funding to $30 million and post-money valuation to $500 million. Investors include Id4 Ventures, TQ Ventures, Red Bridge Ventures, Kadmos Capital, and WS Investment Co., the investment arm of Wilson Sonsini. Angel investor Jonathan Frankle, Chief AI Scientist at Databricks, also participated. Pathway focuses on research and development of 'post-Transformer' model architectures, which are becoming a focal point of exploration in the AI field. The company stated it will use the new funds to expand its high-performance computing capabilities, including the procurement of next-generation NVIDIA Blackwell/GB300 systems, and accelerate the development of specialized inference models for the financial services, technology, and healthcare industries.
