On September 23, the Wall Street Journal reported that the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is investigating Kalshi for 'wash trading.' Allegations have surfaced that since August, traders on the prediction market Kalshi have executed nearly 1 million trades in the Ethereum futures market, with each trade amount being nearly identical. This unusual activity has drawn the attention of federal regulators and traders. Kalshi stated in a blog post that there are no false transactions on the platform, and the repeated quotes are fixed prices set by market makers, which faster traders can seize. 'Any market trying to launch new products and new businesses goes through this process,' she said, 'it's very normal.'
