According to monitoring by Dongcha Beating, Alibaba's Qwen is set to release Qwen 3.8 and make the model weights open source. The Qwen3.8-Max-Preview has already launched with Token Plan, Qoder, and QoderWork, featuring a parameter scale of 2.4 trillion. The new model focuses on enhancing coding engineering and professional office capabilities compared to Qwen3.7-Max. It is designed for long-term tasks such as full-stack development, data analysis, and Office workflows. Currently, the official technical report and complete benchmark results have not been released. Qwen claims that Qwen3.8 can compete with leading edge models, with capabilities second only to Fable 5.

On June 23, Ali Bahreini, Iran's permanent representative to the United Nations Office at Geneva, stated that the Strait of Hormuz is now fully open to commercial vessels and will not charge any fees.
