On September 13, AMC CEO Adam Aron once again criticized Robinhood's stock token business. In response to Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev and Dan Gallagher publicly defending stock tokens over the past week, Aron described this practice as "repugnant," arguing that it contradicts the fundamental principles of stock ownership and turns investment into a gamified, commercialized casino. Aron questioned why Robinhood, which acknowledges it cannot provide or sell stock tokens to "U.S. persons," continues to heavily promote related products on its U.S. website. He also raised concerns about whether Robinhood's offshore operations in Jersey for stock token services aim to operate outside the scope of U.S. securities laws. Furthermore, he pointed out that stock token purchasers have fewer rights than actual shareholders, which could lead to investor confusion; if the real stocks backing the tokens are lent to short sellers, can the tokens still be considered truly backed 1:1? Aron characterized stock tokens as "non-regulated, derivative, synthetic, or debt-backed securities," stating that they merely simulate real stocks.

The American chain of movie theaters AMC had previously released multiple NFT series related to movies or stock ownership in a brief period of time. However, according to the AMC website, it has been 527 days since the last series was released. Despite NFTs still being traded, AMC's recent financial report warned that its cash burn rate is not sustainable in the long term. Currently, AMC has not responded to whether it plans to release new NFT series in the near future.
