According to monitoring by PeckShield, a hacker minted 19 million THEO tokens on the Base chain, subsequently exchanging them for 700.8 ETH (approximately $1.76 million), and transferred the ETH to the Ethereum mainnet via a cross-chain bridge. As a result of this incident, the value of THEO tokens has plummeted by 92% in the past 24 hours.

On October 13, a debt frenzy sparked by financing for artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure is leading to a capital competition among governments and tech giants. Bank of America strategists indicate that this is driving up borrowing costs for developing countries, while geopolitical concerns, high oil prices, and rising policy rates have already put upward pressure on bond yields. In the second half of this year, the average yield on emerging market dollar bonds has surged nearly 1 percentage point, reaching its highest level since April of last year. Merveille Paja, who oversees sovereign credit strategy for Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at Bank of America, stated that this could pose challenges for governments seeking to refinance maturing debt. On October 13, a report by on-chain analyst Axel Adler Jr. indicated that Bitcoin is currently priced at approximately $83,600, while the average cost basis for long-term holders (LTH) is $48,600, representing a 72% increase over this cost. This group has remained profitable since January 2023, with the last time the price fell below this level being on January 13, 2023. The closest price to the cost basis since then was in March 2023. From October 6 to 13, Bitcoin dropped from $85,800 to $83,600, with the average cost basis for LTH remaining virtually unchanged at $48,600. Should Bitcoin fall below this level, this group will experience unrealized losses. The cost basis peaked at $49,500 on July 30 and has since decreased by 1.7%. Since August 1, there have been negative weekly changes for 60 out of 74 days, with the largest weekly decline being 0.34% on August 25, currently at -0.06%. Adler noted that the decline in LTH holdings remains moderate; if the negative value widens further, it would indicate accelerated selling, while returning above zero would suggest this group is accumulating more.
