For example, in a case from Baotou, starting in October 2023, the group connected with overseas online gambling and telecom fraud networks to 'clean' illicit funds through fictitious consumption, then contacted cryptocurrency dealers to convert the funds into virtual currency, ultimately transferring the illegal money to designated virtual currency addresses abroad. The case involved nearly a thousand accounts, with individuals scattered across Inner Mongolia, Shandong, Jiangsu, Hebei, and Chongqing. Police, in collaboration with the Digital Currency Research Institute of the People's Bank of China, conducted joint analysis using financial accounts and on-chain data to uncover the complete criminal network and carry out nationwide simultaneous operations.
