The most significant change in Continuity is that the final data of the repository is stored in S3 (cloud object storage), with the local Git server acting only as a cache. Each push first writes to a WAL (Write-Ahead Log that records changes to the repository in order), and then updates the status via CAS (Check-and-Submit, which ensures no one else has modified it beforehand). This way, if the server fails, it can be replaced directly without the need to maintain a fixed primary node and complex repository replica relationships. Walgit turns this architecture into a Rust program that can run by connecting to S3, GCS, and other object storage systems without requiring an additional database. It also supports bundle-uri (pre-packaging large repositories for direct download from object storage or CDN), as well as Git LFS, Web UI, API, OIDC login, and webhooks. However, walgit primarily replicates the underlying Git storage of Origin, not the entire Origin platform. PRs, Issues, and the complete CI collaboration layer are still not available.
