According to Beating AI news, recent ChatGPT paid users have discovered that despite selecting GPT-5.6 Sol's Thinking or Pro, responses suddenly became faster with a decline in quality. After capturing network requests, it was found that the frontend requested GPT-5.6, but the server actually returned gpt-5-5-mini. Adam Fry, the product lead for OpenAI ChatGPT, has confirmed that this is a routing bug. Approximately 3% of Pro and Thinking requests were incorrectly routed to GPT-5.5-mini, and the issue has now been resolved.

As more consumers begin using Apple computers to create and run AI agents, Apple (AAPL.O) has launched new Mac Mini and Mac Studio models equipped with upgraded chips and other enhancements for artificial intelligence applications. In an announcement on Tuesday, Apple emphasized that its chips designed for iPhone and Mac include dedicated components known as neural network engines for running AI models; additionally, the company has adopted a RAM architecture that alleviates some memory bottlenecks. The new generation Mac Mini offers two versions, M6 and M5 Pro, starting at 6,999 yuan and 12,999 yuan respectively. Apple directly refers to it as a desktop computer suitable for 'all-day Agent computing,' highlighting its capability to run AI agents continuously. The M6 is Apple's first 2nm M series chip, with both CPU and GPU upgraded to 12 cores, and for the first time, each GPU core includes a neural network accelerator. AI performance reaches up to four times that of the M4 version. Memory starts at 16GB and goes up to 32GB, with bandwidth increased to 170GB/s. Apple claims that the LM Studio's large model prompt processing speed is up to 4.8 times that of the M4 version. The more expensive M5 Pro version supports up to 64GB of unified memory and 307GB/s bandwidth, with Apple stating that it is suitable for long-term operation of AI agents. Both machines have also upgraded to Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and a 2.5Gb Ethernet port, officially going on sale on September 22. Prices have significantly increased; the M4 Mac Mini was initially launched at 4,499 yuan in 2024, but after rising to 5,999 yuan this year, the new models start at 6,999 yuan.
