The BGCI emerged from a partnership between Bloomberg, a global leader in financial data and analytics, and Galaxy Digital, a digital asset merchant bank founded by former hedge fund manager Michael Novogratz. Announced in May 2018, this collaboration combined Bloomberg’s indexing expertise with Galaxy Digital’s insights into cryptocurrency markets, aiming to bridge the gap between traditional finance and digital assets.
