Cryptoys: The Digital Toy Ecosystem

Cryptoys, developed on the Flow blockchain, emerged as a flagship Web3 project tied to Toy Story. It combines NFT collectibles with interactive gameplay, allowing users to unbox, trade, and engage with digital versions of iconic characters like Woody and Buzz Lightyear.

1. NFT Unboxing Mechanics: Cryptoys digitises the thrill of unboxing physical toys. Each NFT contains randomised traits, including character designs, accessories, and rarity tiers, encouraging collection and trading.
2. Toyken Marketplace: Transactions within the Cryptoys ecosystem are facilitated by Toyken, a native currency enabling peer-to-peer trading of NFTs. The platform’s “Teleportation” feature allows assets to move seamlessly between wallets and external marketplaces.
3. Backpack Management: Users store and organise their NFT collections in a digital “Backpack,” which integrates with gaming environments and social platforms.

Community and Adoption:

• As of 2024, Cryptoys reported 6,586 teleported assets and 337 active wallets, with daily trading volume consistently exceeding $60,000.
• The project has cultivated a community of 24.6K followers on X (formerly Twitter) and 10.3K Discord members, reflecting strong grassroots engagement.

Funko’s Toy Story 30th Anniversary NFTs

In February 2025, Funko launched a limited-edition NFT collection commemorating Toy Story’s 30th anniversary. The drop included redeemable physical collectibles, such as vinyl figures of Scud and the Pizza Planet Truck, bridging physical and digital ownership. The NFTs, minted on the WAX blockchain, offered tiered rarities and exclusive access to future drops, illustrating how traditional toy companies are adopting Web3 strategies.
