SPYX originates from Backed Finance, a Swiss-based entity specializing in the tokenization of real-world assets. Founded in 2021, Backed Finance was established by Adam Levi, Roberto Christen, and Yehonatan Ben Shimon. The company developed its tokenization framework under Switzerland's Distributed Ledger Technology Act, ensuring robust regulatory compliance for asset-backed tokens. The operational model of Backed Finance centers around issuing blockchain tokens that are fully collateralized by traditional securities, all held with licensed custodians. Independent audits verify the reserves backing these tokens, providing an extra layer of transparency for investors.

The architecture of Backed Finance includes multichain interoperability, initially launching tokens using the ERC-20 standard before transitioning to Solana's SPL standard for the SPYX token.
