KNUTとは

Knut was born on December 5, 2006, at the Berlin Zoo along with his brother, who sadly did not survive. Rejected by his mother, Knut was adopted and raised by zookeepers, becoming a powerful symbol of conservation efforts worldwide. The first public viewing of Knut occurred on March 23, 2007, and it was during this event that he achieved instant fame. Northern Europe was besotted with the fluffy white cub, and the phenomenon known as “Knutmania” was born.

Knut's rise to fame led to a significant increase in attendance at the Berlin Zoo. In the years following his debut, many visitors flocked to the zoo, motivated not only by curiosity but also a desire to witness the cuteness of the young polar bear up close. Knut became an icon, featured prominently in media outlets around the world, leading to discussions surrounding wildlife conservation, particularly relating to polar bears and their habitats.
